The Current | A break between sets
In this episode, I'm going to be giving you a behind-the-scenes look at my business for our sake, I wanted to let you know that this is the last episode of the Frequency and Flow podcast that I release before I'm going to be taking an extended break from the podcast.
Recording this episode on the heels of the podcast episode I did with Randi Lee on her podcast, "The Uplifting Podcast," where I shared a bit of the behind-the-scenes of my business in 2022 and why I decided to go back to a full-time job to support my entrepreneurship journey. If you haven’t already, go ahead and check it out before listening to this.
And if you’re here after you’ve listened to that episode, you might be thinking, "So what does that mean for you and your business?"
Well, let me cut to the chase: my business isn’t going anywhere. However, I will be taking a nice break from this podcast for the next couple of months while I settle into my new normal of a full-time job, continue to serve my current clients in a way that supports my own energetic blueprint, and create the next evolution of my business.
Today I’m going to share a bit more about what the journey has been like the past couple of months, and then I’m going to share where I am right now, what’s next as I head into this break, and how my own human design has played into each piece of this.
This was not a spur-of-the-moment choice. It was a big decision that was actually made as a result of a lot of small decisions.
But what instigated all these small decisions was the fact that Everything changed for me as an entrepreneur the second I chose to view my business as a LIFELONG relationship instead of a transactional or exploitative journey of how can I use this entity, my business, to support me in the short term early in 2022.
It flipped all my beliefs about business on their head and got me questioning EVERYTHING - from my offers, to how I market and promote them. And as you learned in my episode with Randi Lee, it churned up so much (in a good way) that Line 1 in me thrives better in stable & secure environments, started to think outside of the box as a way to get out of the churn.
So I had to ask myself, what can I do right now to support my relationship with my business over the long term? And that is what led me to look for supplemental income. It wasn’t like one day I made a massive life-changing decision. It was a set of small decisions made day after day by listening to my splenic authority & following it and making adjustments to get to where I am today.
Initially, I started looking for part-time work, which I did pre-pandemic as a swim coach, and eventually, due to some personal reasons, it evolved into also looking for full-time options when none of the part-time options I was finding felt right. And due to my experience, the industry I work in, and quite frankly my privilege, it didn’t take long to get a full-time offer that suited my personal situation AND gave me space to continue to devote time to my business, since continuing my own creative work & creative outlets was a HUGE priority for me.
Exploring those various possibilities and just taking steps forward until you know what happened—a lot of it was just following my strategy and authority. So, I’m keeping my aura open to invitations and all the possibilities you're aware of, I pay attention to what was an invitation versus what I was forcing or trying to push myself into.
How has following my own Human Design support me here?
Human Design help me quite a lot actually in following my own strategy, signature, and authority - keeping my aura open to invitations, using my splenic authority to feel into what invitations (applications, connections, and interviews) felt most aligned for me, and forging ahead in the situations where I felt like I was TRULY recognized (my Projector signature of success)
So, if I had an interview where I felt like they were just looking for someone, anyone, to fit into a box? I didn't pursue it because there was a gap. If they didn't see the true breadth of my experience and what I could offer; I trusted my authority and just said no as if I knew the right opportunities were out there and trusted that they were. I was determined to find something that gave you the best of both worlds.
I had to ask myself: Where did I feel they understood my full spectrum of gifts & experience? Where did I feel needed? And where did I feel like I could make the biggest impact? And what situation would be best for my health, wellness, and sustainability?
It’s funny that for even these Huge ife decisions sometimes the most supportive thing you can do for yourself from a human design perspective goes back to the basics.
Now that I’ve been at this job for a couple of months, I have to say that in many ways I feel more recognized and seen than I have in a long time in relation to my career. It's funny how I left the corporate world to find more projector success, only to come full circle and find it back in the corporate world.
Settling into this new phase of life hasn’t always been easy. Figuring out how to manage my time and energy when I’m not my own boss 100% of the time has been a bit of a learning curve, but I’m getting there.
And, luckily for me, my current clients have been so supportive of this transition as I navigate it—both my long-term OBM clients and my coaching clients.
Because of all of my personal work over the years, both at my last corporate job over 4 years ago and throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I truly feel like I am approaching this new iteration with a fresh, much more empowering perspective than I have ever had before, which is both a relief and an invigorating challenge in some ways.
Despite all these changes, one thing that hasn’t changed is my desire to create and help others navigate their journeys through their own personal relationships and professional careers, whether that be in their businesses or corporate jobs.
Not only has the desire remained unchanged, but in fact, I would say it’s grown, and coincidentally, since I started this new job, the momentum and energy behind my business have shifted in the best way possible.
I’ve had new clients raise their hands and sign up for my offers, and my podcast has started to take off after almost a full year of publishing new episodes weekly. And this invigorated perspective, it’s had me looking at my own business through a new lens.
What would I do differently if I didn't need to exploit my business in the short term for revenue and profits and instead could do what is best for the long-term relationship with my business and nurture the entity that is my business?
It's incredibly exciting to be surrounded by all of these possibilities. It’s a perspective I could not truly have without the financial stability and security that having a supplemental source of income provides.
My creativity and excitement for my business and what's coming have never been higher. I have so many ideas I can’t wait to implement that are both high-quality and more affordable or attainable for whoever needs support and is ready to take action. But because of my new situation, I’m slower to create, build, and launch these new ideas which at first was frustrating until I realized that.
Pursuing a full-time job, which I used to see as the opposite of freedom, my conscious sun placement, and life’s work in the gene key.
But since taking this new approach and this new iteration the past couple of months, it's given me more freedom than I ever could have imagined, as long as I am able to remain clear in my intentions, clear in my priorities, and clear in the true impact that I want to make.
This has made me much more excited and optimistic than ever before about the future of my own business and its ultimate impact on the world, and what you're going to take from it if you're here.
And if you are to take anything away from my experience as you look forward in your journey, it is to take a step back and take a good look at your life and business through the lens of nurturing long-term relationships with yourself, your business, your personal relationships, etc., and ask yourself what you can do right now to support their long-term success and fulfillment.
It might have you thinking differently and making different decisions. It might get you thinking outside the box in surprising ways and making decisions that feel backward or weird at the moment but support your vitality and sustainability in the long term.
Trust your gut to do things that are the best for you right now, even if they don’t follow the exact mold of what you thought you needed to do or were told to do to be successful.
So, what does this mean going forward? In order to serve my current clients at the highest level and have time to put these new ideas into action, something has to give, and for the time being, that is the podcast and marketing in general.
It’s clear to me that I love podcasting, so it’s not going away forever, but I do need an extended break, at least a couple of months, I’m guessing, but I’m not ready to put a date on it yet.
I will say that I do feel that while the general content and topics will be similar when the podcast comes back, the format of the podcast will be evolving a bit when I come back, including a new name for it. I’m not ready to share that yet, but I will in due time.
I also think that my business and offers will be evolving a bit as well to help more people who are interested in becoming their best, most authentic selves, whether they have a business or not, whether they are entrepreneurs or not. Again, more information will be released as soon as it is possible.
I’m genuinely excited to go into my cave, which is a safe environment, and see what comes out. In the meantime, while I’m on this break, I’m definitely falling off the radar. As I said, I’m still working with clients and creating.
So I will definitely let you know what's coming and when I'm coming back when I have more clarity around it and definitive dates and things like that. But in the meantime, you can go and listen to older podcast episodes. There are some real goodies in there that you don't want to miss. So I definitely invite you to go back and download some old episodes if you are missing my content.
I would love to connect with you further. You can DM me on Instagram, say hello, and share what your biggest takeaway from this episode was for you and/or your business. I cannot wait to share what's next. Stay tuned, and I will be back sometime in early 2023. Have a wonderful rest of your year, and I will speak to you soon.
